Practice at home works best when it builds on something: the spring setting your instructor chose, the cue that finally made an exercise make sense, the class you keep returning to. Without a record, those details are easily lost between one session and the next.

The Pilates Notebook For Home Practice keeps them in one place. You note the set-ups you use on your machine, from springs and footbar to headrest, ropes, gear and box. Twelve pages hold the exercises and sequences you have been taught, whether by an instructor, in a class or through a video, with what to focus on and the cues to remember. You write out your own home routines, keep a library of the classes you return to, and give each session its own page: what you did, the equipment you used, how it felt and what to ask next time. Monthly reviews and a year-at-a-glance tracker show how your practice is building.

For instructors, it is a simple way to support clients between sessions. Write the set-ups and cues you want a client to practise into the From my instructor or class pages, agree a home routine together, and look over their session log at the next lesson. The book recommends lessons with a qualified instructor as the best way to learn, and gives you both a shared record of how the client's practice at home is going.

Pages for the care of your equipment keep the details of your machine together: serial number, warranty and spring colours, accessories, the care routine from your equipment guide, cleaning, springs and parts replaced, monthly checks and any service or repairs.

It is written by HF Industries, which was established in 1978 and works every day with instructors, studios and people who practise at home. That is why the set-ups, the session pages and the care pages follow how the equipment is set up, used and looked after.

The book records your practice; it does not teach exercises or give medical advice. Practise what you have been taught, and see a qualified instructor to learn and to progress.

The Pilates Notebook For Home Practice is made to stay beside your machine, ready to open before a session, with no login or password. Your set-ups and cues are there at a glance. Turn back to the spring setting your instructor chose, or add a note as soon as you finish. Writing by hand gives you a moment to notice how the session went, and that's what ends up on the page. HF Industries has been family-owned since 1978. We value simple tools, made well, that last.

  • FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    • Do I need an instructor to use it? No. It works whether you learn from an instructor, in classes or from videos. We do recommend lessons with a qualified instructor, and the book makes your practice easy to share with one.
    • Does it include exercises or workouts? No. It is a record of the exercises and routines you have been taught or have chosen, not a programme. It gives you room to write them down with their set-ups and cues.
    • Will it work with my machine? Yes. It is written for equipment from any manufacturer, and each session page has a tick-box for Reformer, Tower, Chair, mat or other. The set-up fields cover springs, footbar, headrest, ropes and straps, gear or stopper, and box or props, and you record your own machine's spring colours.
    • I mostly follow online classes. Is it still useful? Yes. You can record the platforms you use, keep a library of the classes you return to, and note which class you followed in each session. The Platforms I use page asks you to keep passwords out of the book.
    • I am an instructor. How would I use it with clients? As support for practice at home. Write the set-ups and cues you want a client to work on into the From my instructor or class pages, agree a home routine together, and look over their session log and questions at the next lesson. The Studio 5-pack gives you five copies for $158.40.
    • Does it tell me how to look after my Reformer? No. Your equipment guide sets out what to check and clean, and how often. The care pages give you a place to record that routine, your cleaning, springs and parts replaced, monthly checks and any service or repairs.
    • Is it dated? No. Start any time, and fill it at your own pace.
    • Is it part of The Pilates Notebook set? It is a companion title in The Pilates Notebook series of four. The set remains the three books for instructors and studios: The Pilates Notebook For Instructors, the Studio Planner and the Equipment Care Log.
    • When will my order be posted? Copies are posted from Monday 23rd November. For delivery before Christmas, please order by Thursday 17th December. NSW orders have until Friday 18th December, WA until Wednesday 16th December and NT until Monday 14th December. Regional addresses can take longer.
